InThe La Robla thermal power plant was inaugurated in 1970, and along with the mining industry, it was an economic engine for the Central Mountain region of León for several decades. With the disappearance of these activities, the population has declined by 351% due to the lack of jobs.
Robla Green is an integrated project that responds to the demand for new, impactful projects in the area, all linked to the new green economy. It is also a project that perfectly aligns with the administrations' goal of promoting quality employment in areas undergoing a Just Transition.
To promote a new green economy in the territories affected by the end of mining and coal-related activities, and by the closure of the old thermal power plant.
To make better use of renewable natural resources (of agricultural origin) in Castilla y León and to valorize them for the generation of emission-neutral energy.
Strategic enclave
This location provides the most suitable site for the project, as it allows both plants to coexist in the same space. Furthermore, the biomass plant can utilize agricultural waste from local farmers, while the green e-methanol plant is... strategically connected with the rest of Spain and with different ports that facilitate exports to Europe and other continents.
